EPrO8

Frances O'Hanlon —

Success for Kaurilands EPro8 Competitors:

The EPro8 Challenge is an exciting interschools science and engineering competition held throughout the country from Years 5 to 13.  The competition is sponsored by Vector and is organised by a small dedicated team who are passionate about all things science and engineering.

Normally teams would compete against each other at a designated venue, however, this year due to Covid, teams had to complete their challenges in their own schools.

Last term, two Year 6 teams worked together during their morning tea and lunchtimes to complete their EPro8 challenges.

These teams were required to communicate their ideas, problem solve, and work as a team to build a representation of an animal and make one part of that animal move. They then had to submit for judging, a written report and video, explaining how they had created their animal.

I was so impressed with the dedication and perseverance shown by both teams to complete their challenges.

I am very proud to advise that the Ninjineers team won their heat and will now go on to compete in the semi-finals which will be held in November.

The Ninjineers with their trophy!

The Robotics team, who were competing for the very first time, came a very commendable 10th out of 28 West Auckland teams. He whetū koe!
