Acting Principal's Message
Kia ora whānau
It has been lovely seeing many of you about the school over the last couple of days at our whānau meetings. Our teachers have really enjoyed meeting with you and are looking forward to working with you all this year. We really do value this time at the beginning of the year.
A big thank you to all of the families who have made donations towards our school camps this year. Camps are an amazing opportunity for our children to build teamwork skills, explore the great outdoors and provide long lasting memories. Sadly, camps are expensive and we rely heavily on your donations to enable us to go and plan for future camps. If you have not yet done so, and you would like to make the donation for Year 5 and 6 camp we would love your support with this.
A reminder that we will be collecting donations for school trips as they come up over the year. You will be notified with the details a couple of weeks prior to the event. Unfortunately if we do not receive sufficient funds, we may have to cancel these.
Last year The Ministry of Education awarded schools with 8 call back days (Teacher Only Days) to be used for teacher professional development over the next two years. Kaurilands will be using two of these days this year. We will be closed Friday 29th May (day before Queens Birthday weekend) and Friday 23rd October (day before Labour weekend). This coincides with our local schools. We hope that you can use the extra day in this long weekend to spend time with family.
It is hard to believe that we have already completed 4 successful weeks here at Kaurilands. Our children have settled quickly into the new school year and are well underway with their learning. I look forward to seeing our children in action over the next couple of weeks.
Ngā mihi
Erin Namajuska
