Rūma Ono recently spent one night and two glorious days at Carey Park in Henderson Valley. The sun shone brightly allowing the tamariki the opportunity to experience a range of challenging activities. These activities built their confidence, encouraged team work and allowed the tamariki to enjoy being outside having lots of fun.

Remember when we were lying on our creaky beds trying to get to sleep?

Remember when I carefully climbed the stairs to the top of the Flying Fox in absolute terror?

Remember when I shot down the water slide like an arrow into the freezing, cold water?

Remember when I shot a bullseye at archery I was so proud?

Remember when we heard the terrifying screams of fright on the Burma trail?

Remember when I plummeted into the frosty water when I was hurrying across the kayaks?

Remember when the delicious maple syrup went running down my face and arm?

Remember when I stacked 12 crates and tumbled down on number 13?

Remember when we had delicious pure vanilla ice cream with wobbly jelly?

Remember when we hopped like rabbits from one kayak to another?

Remember when I made the biggest pikelet in outdoor cooking? It was yum!

Remember when I played basketball in the gym and I scored a backwards shot from the free throw line?

Remember when I made it to 10 crates at crate stacking, my legs were shaking?

Remember when I cannonballed all the way down the water slide then body slammed into the freezing, cold water?

Remember when I zoomed like a rocket down the hill, I fell out and got squished?

Remember when we made pikelets and the scrumptious maple syrup quickly slobbered down my chin?

Remember when the parents snored like a hippo?

Remember when I flew like a bullet down the zipline?

Remember when I was really scared of the flying fox but in the end it was so much fun?

Remember when I tried something new I was so happy because I’d never been kayaking before?

Remember when I got to go on the raft with Idris’ team?

Remember when my raft capsized and I fell into the freezing water?

Remember when I tumbled off the back of my raft like an anchor?

Remember when I flew down as my crates came crashing down?

Remember when our kayaks flew down the stream and I nearly fell out?

Remember when I saw the morning sky from my cabin painted in colours from the sun?

Remember when we were so excited to get to camp but so tired and happy to be going home again?

Remember when I went to Taupō when you were all at camp, I went to a mountain and my brother smashed me with a snowball?
