Room 12's trip to the Museum

Drew

Did you know that volcanoes can make new land?  On Monday Room 12 went to the Museum and it was really big!  First, we went into the volcano room and there was a pretend volcano for us to look at and learn about.   After the volcano room, we had our lesson about the Māori culture and we learnt about tools and instruments.  Lastly we got to roam around the Museum in our groups and my group looked at the planes and the Weird and Wonderful gallery!  I felt scared looking at the strange insects and I was shaking a lot in the volcano room!

Did you know that someone who studies volcanoes is called a Volcanologist?  On Monday Room 12 and Room 13 went to the Auckland War Memorial Museum.  We went there to learn about survival and Māori medicine but it was raining so we sadly couldn't go in the bush.  First, we went into the volcano room and we had to do a little quiz to help us learn more about volcanoes.  Next we went to learn about Māori tools, weapons and instruments and we got to hold them!  After lunch we had free time to walk around the Museum and my group went to the shaking earthquake room and it was interesting and frightening.  This was the best school trip ever!

Can you guess where we went?  On Monday Room 12 and 13 went to the ancient Auckland War Memorial Museum.  First we boarded the busy bus and it was super busy because both classes were on the bus together!  As we turned the corner I caught my first glimpse of Auckland War Memorial Museum and it was a huge brick building with sturdy looking towers and friendly looking doors.  Next we (my group) went into the classroom and we started our way towards the volcano room.  I couldn't believe my eyes!  It was amazing and we even had a quiz to do!  Next our group leader, Anya's mum told us it was time to go into the volcano house to watch and learn about volcanoes and earthquakes.  Our group sat on the couch and Alice clung to me the whole time!
