Room 10's Whale Tail

Lillian Bombay —

Late in Term 1, Rūma Tekau studied Sea Week. Many of us had seen whale tails around Auckland streets and we decided that we would like to collaborate and make our own. The process involved creating a wire mesh frame in which the children worked for a whole term and a bit applying layers of paper mache. The last step was to paint it with beautiful, vibrant colours. This very long project taught us perseverance, how to solve problems when they arise, patience and teamwork. The children (and myself) are very proud of what they have achieved.
