Principal's Message
Kia ora e te whānau
Welcome back to chilly Term 2! We love the blue skies though! A very warm welcome to new children and families joining our community this term. We hope you enjoy being part of Kaurilands, we are here for you all.
The term has had a busy start with our junior children already going on trips to Kelly Tarlton's and Stardome for epic adventures. Year 3 will also visit Stardome in the coming weeks. Winter sports competitions get underway shortly for many senior children with a Rippa Rugby tournament first off the block on the 30th May. Next week a group of Year 5 and 6 children will attend the Writers Festival in the Aotea Centre and the following week our 2024 Student Leaders will participate in the NYLD (National Young Leaders Day) at Due Drop stadium in Manukau with many other young leaders from around Auckland.
There are many, many activities and events this term with our big one - the annual Matariki hikoi/breakfast/assembly at the end of the term on Thursday 4th July just before the term ends. We will send many details about this closer to the time!
Last Friday I went to New Lynn New World with some Te Whānau Āwhina parents and children to meet the owner - Dave Cullen who has agreed to sponsor Kaurilands School. The details of what you can do to support us are in this newsletter - very easy, just ask for a duplicate receipt and pop it in the Kaurilands box! This is an amazing opportunity for us and we are extremely grateful to Dave for his support. Huge thanks to Shannon Lawton for establishing this connection for us. Shop at New World!
I have also attached an invitation to any and all parents who would like to attend a special hui being offered within our group of schools - Kōtuitui, which offers an insight into services and resources available to help us support our children with learning needs. Please see the poster attached for the details.
Stay warm and see you all soon
