News from Rūma 13

Amelia Le Cheminant —

Room 13 has had the pleasure of hosting two international students from Japan this term. It was a fantastic, authentic way to learn about another culture.

We learnt some Japanese words and phrases to help us communicate with our visitors. We discovered the similarities and differences between schools in Aotearoa and Japan. We learnt about the importance of showing manaakitanga as a host and how to take care of guests. Our visitors shared their love of origami with us, pride in their country and willingness to try new things.

On Friday we farewelled Hikari and Kenta as they returned to Japan, but we will keep in contact with our new friends and hope they might return to Kaurilands next year.
