Room 9 News

Rebecca & Robyn —

On Tuesday, Room 9 began an inquiry looking into different countries and cultures around the world.  A mysterious suitcase turned up in our classroom, which was filled with different artefacts from a range of countries. Our tamariki had fun predicting where the items originated from and what their purpose was.  One item that was particularly interesting was the hurl.  We learnt that 'Hurling' is an Irish sport resembling Hockey.  It is the fastest land sport in the world where the players use a stick and a ball.  It is played in front of sold out stadiums.

Below are a few examples of items that we learnt about.  Can you guess where they are from and their purpose?

Have a think about some of the items that are special to you and your whānau.
