To our marvellous students

The School Office —

Vaughn from Room 25 was awarded the Swimmer of the Term at Swimstation at the end of Term 3 - you look very happy Vaughn.

During the school holidays Meah (Rm 26) and Ella (Rōpū Iwa) starred in a TV commercial, they were very professional and mum and dad are very proud of them.   (They've also appeared in many others - keep your eyes out for them on TV).

Congratulations to Nika (Rm 10  ) who won Australia/NZ 8 year old National Champion (1st place) in Acro Dance, 5th Place 8 year Lyrical, Platinum award for her Jazz and 3rd Place 8 year hip hop, which all took place in Australia.  Nika also placed in the top 20 Petite Australia/NZ dancer group- quite an achievement as she made it through to this group with a dance which she had only learnt 5 weeks earlier.  Nika & her sister attended the Red Carpet Ball for Champion of Champions.  Fantastic Nika, well done!

Well done to Neevah Rm 5 who received  the Most Valuble Player for Kaurilands Steel 2017 pictured with her favourite netball player and special guest Maria Tutaia.  One to remember Neevah!

Mykayla from Rōpū Toru was part of the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory production that her drama school - Kids4drama - put on during the holidays. A wonderful show that the children put many many hours of practice into. Other Kaurilands students also took part - Lyla-Rose, Ciara, Lilly and Kaylee. Congratulations to all, they were amazing!

During the first week of the school holidays Bobbi (Rōpū Toru) competed at her very first National Championship in Gymnastics (held in Nelson). Her grade had the largest amount of competitors - 72 girls! Bobbi's Auckland Team came 2nd overall, Bobbi came 2nd on Bar overall, 2nd on Beam and 6th overall. There was only .6 difference in scores between first place and 6th so it was very close.  Way to go Bobbi!!!

Arabella Rm 26 has passed her Grade 1 BBO Ballet Exam with Distinction. She worked very hard in preparation for her exam and came away with outstanding results.

Olivia from Rōpū Tahi competed in the Northern Regional Surf Lifesaving pool competitions last month and placed in 5 of her events,  1st, 2nd and 3 x 3rds.  She later went onto compete in the New Zealand National competitions and came 2nd and received a silver medal. Wow what great achievements Olivia!  AND Olivia recently received a sportsmanship award at her club netball prizegiving.

Mike (Rm 7/8) won the Junior Cross Country Trophy for the Glen Eden Harriers Club Champs Cross Country run at Bethells Beach.  He also came 2nd for the U11’s 5km Road Race at the recent Glen Eden 10 Miler Event. Great going Mike!

Ruby from Rōpū Tahi completed her jazz exam for Auckland Academy of Dance, and received her results just before the holidays. Pre Grade Jazz exam "Honours With Distinction".  Comments from her exam “Full marks for hamstring stretch, head tilts, turning exercise and centre routine. Well done Ruby.  Steps "Another impressive section" .  Way to go Ruby fantastic results.

Alfie - Rm 13, Henry Rm 18, and Willem  & Charlotte Rm 16 were very proud of themselves (& rightly so!) after finishing a fabulous walk up the side of a beautiful but muddy hill and then conquering the darkest depths of the Waitomo Glow worm cave and the Ruakuri caves in the holidays.

Well done to Cash from Rōpū Rima who received a certificate and trophy for most improved player for the Glenora Grizzlies at the recent prizegiving.  Woo hoo Cash!

In the holidays Ponzo from Rōpū Iwa had some art work in an exhibition (Mapura Studios 'Good Eh?') at Studio One - Toi Tu gallery on Ponsonby Rd.  Ponzo is pointing at some of of his art work in the show (red and yellow sculpture resting on top of the framed painting of an eagle).

On Tuesday Hao Chen from Rm 16 popped in to see Mrs Augustine to show her his good work.  He read his story out loud about his new t-shirt.

3 of our Senior students, Tommi, Ethan and Clement took part in celebrating Niuean Language week by learning some waiata and the history of Niue at Glen Eden Intermediate School .
