"Kauri" - our very own owl!

Emma Best —

A stunning creation!

For ten weeks in the autumn of 2018,  Auckland’s streets, parks and open spaces will play host to over 40 individually designed and beautifully created owls – showcasing the wealth of artistic talent in Aotearoa and positively contributing to the economic, cultural and social life of the city.

This project is presented by the Child Cancer Foundation in partnership with the International creator of the event, Wild in Art and will ultimately raise significant funds for the vital work the Child Cancer Foundation does to support children with cancer and their families when they need it most.

Kaurilands School was lucky enough to receive an owl to contribute to this fantastic event.  With the support of our very own resident artist teacher, Tracey Henderson and three of our very talented students, Milla Senior, Shefa Katz and Sophia Witten-Hannah our owl 'Kauri' was created.  Maddison Giles (the CCF ambassador) was also on hand to give her seal of approval to our very special creation.

The inspiration for our design came from our beautiful natural surroundings and we feel 'Kauri' represents the very best our school has to offer.

We hope you all get a chance to see 'Kauri' next year, please keep an eye out for him. For more information please have a look at: www.thebighoot.co.nz

Thanks team - a fantastic effort!
