News from Rūma 16
Rūma 16 had a great time celebrating Samoan Language Week. We looked at tapa cloths and patterns, created our own, located Samoa on the map, learnt about sea turtles, read stories and re-told stories. Our Nana Faye (Natahlia’s Nana) taught us some basic Samoan greetings like 'Talofa' for hello, 'Fa'afetai' for thank you and 'Tulou' for excuse me.
The students were eager to learn more and were so proud to be able to greet each other in Samoan throughout the week and beyond. Fa'afetai tele lava (thank you very much) to Nana Faye for teaching us about the Samoan language and culture. It was a wonderful experience that allowed us to appreciate and respect the rich traditions of Samoa.
We look forward to continuing to learn and celebrate different cultures in our community.
Manuia le aso (have a good day)!
