Principal's Message
Kia ora e te whānau
Yesterday we had a fantastic Matariki celebration! The weather was our friend and we had a crisp and clear early morning for our hikoi up the maunga. Thank you to the massive crowd who joined us throughout the morning, both on the maunga and back at school for breakfast. Many people are involved in the preparation of a big event like this and I'd like to mention a few. Huge thanks to Whaea Kim who begins planning this event many months in advance and co-ordinates with everyone involved. Ngā mihi nūnui ki a koe a Kim. Tino nui tō mātou aroha mōu.
Special mention to Karen who has spent countless hours hanging artwork from across the school in the hall and foyer - it all looks incredible. Well done to all our teachers and children for creating stunning Matariki works of art. A huge thanks as well to Trudi who organised all the kai for the breakfast and planned the overall operation to feed 500!
Following on from our early morning activities we had a fantastic Matariki assembly which included passionate performances by our kapa haka rōpū, year level presentations from each cohort and a play performed by our bi-lingual group. We had a packed hall of supporters who were held in thrall by the powerful performances. Congratulations to everyone involved in the preparation of this very special assembly. Special mention to Te Awhina and Talen, our kapa haka tutors, who have enriched our school through the work they do with our children and staff. They are truly taonga! Photos of our Matariki celebrations can be seen below.
Today is the last day for Care 4 Kidz who have been operating in our school for 28 years! Huge thanks to Els and Theo for the many years of service to our Kaurilands community. We wish you both well and are grateful for the care you have provided for so many children and families over the years!
Congratulations to all our Principal's Award winners from today's end of term assembly. We are so proud of you all for being amazing Kaurilands citizens!
Today brings to a conclusion Term 2, 2024. Thanks to you all, our outstanding community, for your unwavering support for our beloved Kaurilands School. We wish you all a happy and enjoyable break and hope this gorgeous sunshine lasts!
We will see you all on Monday 22nd July!
