News from Rūma 4a
In Rūma Whā A this term, we have loved learning all about the Olympics! We have used this as a context for our learning across all areas of the curriculum. We were inspired to create these wonderful pieces of art by all the determined athletes who sacrifice so much to follow their dreams and compete at the Olympics.
We started with silhouettes from a variety of Olympic sports, and discussed and experimented with different ways of how we could show movement through our art. Using CDs, we drew and coloured the Olympic rings in the background. After this, we had a great (and messy!) time blending the chalk pastels to create the background. We used black pastels to create shadows and a black border to help create a contrast with the bright colours of the background. We love how much colour they have created for our classroom!
