Principal's Message

Jo Augustine —

Kia ora e te whānau

We made it!  The sun is shining and Term 2 is complete!

Thanks to all our wonderful Kaurilands staff for their work during these uncertain times.  Everyone is looking forward to a good break before returning for a 'fresh start'.  We all really appreciate the ongoing support we receive from you all, the messages and thanks during and after lockdown and the real sense of team we have with our special community.  Next term there are a few changes happening with our staff.  Matua Grant will begin Term 3 teaching our next New Entrant class in Room 11 Monday - Thursday each week.  Kara Wilkins will teach the class each Friday.  This class will be full almost immediately.  The ninth class will open in September and will be a job share between Lani Maoate and Emma Tamura in Rūma Kowhai.  We are looking forward to an action packed term in Term 3.  There are Adventure Afternoons across the school, student conferences, Matariki, trips being planned, sporting events, a whole school cultural concert to start rehearsing for and a book fair amongst other things.  We are hoping to get Te Whānau Āwhina underway with some community and fundraising events and will be in touch about this early next term.  If you have any great ideas or could spare us some time this would be much appreciated.

Finally, I would like to mention how much both Erin and I have appreciated the support we have received from Nick Summerfield our Board Chair.  Nick has been on call and sometimes speed dial virtually all year to give us advice and be a sounding board around all decisions that have had to be made.  This has been absolutely invaluable and a really big commitment.  Thank you Nick.

I hope you all can enjoy some quality time together with your children these holidays. We are very proud of them all for showing resilience and bravery this term.  See you all on Monday 20th July.
