News from Ahi Kaa
This Wednesday a very serious Mrs Augustine made an important announcement to our Year 5 children. They would be trialling a new school system where they would need to pay for the use of school facilities and equipment! There were some shocked and confused looking faces. In actual fact it was the start of our careers unit.
The following day the students in Ahi Kaa were paid a salary for working, minus tax for use of the carpet, lighting, reading books and the road they came in on. They were required to use their salaries to purchase lessons which was a compulsory payment. They could use the rest of their money to buy tote trays, chairs, tables, devices, wifi, whiteboards and any other class equipment. Plenty of extra cash was handed out during the day for showing school values and completing school responsibilities such as PE Shed duties at lunchtime.
Ahi Kaa kids quickly got clever, pooling their money and resources and inquiring how they could get cryptocurrency!
The day was so successful the children were all disappointed that they wouldn’t get paid to be students on Friday!
