Principal's Message

Jo Augustine —

Kia ora e te whānau

This week we have celebrated Te Wiki o te Reo Māori. This is a time when we take every opportunity to promote the use of Māori language. This year we commemorate the 50th anniversary of Te Petihana Reo Māori, the Māori Language Petition, an event that led to many of the kaupapa we have today, including Te Wiki o te Reo Māori. Have a look further into the newsletter at our participation in the Māori Language Moment - our first time all together in a long time!

I wanted to congratulate our new Board members - Trinette Giborees Smith, Anne Boniface and Mustafa Derbashi and our returning members - Nick Summerfield and Jaimee Kirby-Brown. Governance of a school is an extremely important role and Kaurilands is in good hands! Many thanks to all those who stood in the elections - we were thrilled that so many parents stood this time.

There are two weeks left until the end of Term 3, Friday 30th September.

As you will have heard, schools will be closed on Monday 26th September for Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Day.

School will recommence for Term 4 on Monday 17th October.

There are two other dates you need to be aware of coming up in Term 4 - on Friday 21 October school is closed as we will be holding a Teacher Only Day and Monday 24th October is Labour Day.

School finishes for Term 4 on Tuesday 20th December at 1pm.

On Friday 30th September we will hold our first full school assembly of the year at 11.30am in the hall! Parents are welcome to attend.

Finally, please support Te Whānau Āwhina in attending the annual quiz night on Saturday 24th September. Te Whānau Āwhina have been planning this event for a long time and it is guaranteed to be a great night. This is our major fundraiser for the year and we need all the support we can get! See all the information you need below. I would love to see you all there!
