How to Make the Most of Seesaw

Rachel Thorpe —

Missed the parent evening this Monday? Here's what we covered on "How to Make the Most out of Seesaw".

By now you are hopefully connected to you child's seesaw learning journal or portfolio either by the phone app or via emails/computer. What next you ask?  Here are some top tips

1. Check Seesaw regularly. You'll get notifications about new entries in your child's journal and can respond to their work. Customise your notification preferences in Account Settings.

2. Celebrate your child's classroom success. Help to encourage the skills your child is working on in class outside of school.

3. Specific comments are best. Asking questions, or complementing specific details can add to the learning conversation. Audio comments are great for year 1-3's. Click the microphone icon to the right of the comment bar.

4. In a group or 'everyone' post your comment is visible to everyone tagged - the students and their parents. This is a great opportunity to lift up the whole class!

NB: Seesaw looks quite different across year levels and even between classes. For more info on this and other things we covered in our Seesaw parent evening, email rachelt@kaurilands.school.nz.
