National Young Leaders Day

Jo Augustine —

Last Thursday Alana and I accompanied our group of 2023 Student Leaders to the National Young Leaders Day at the Due Drop Events Centre in Manukau. This is an annual event organised by one of our wonderful parents, Sarah v'ant Hof and her team for young leaders across the country. Our children had an exciting time listening to very motivating speakers - Brad Smeele, Julia Grace, Georgia Lines, Graci Kim and our own Kaurilands parent, DJ Forbes. Each of these leaders 'imparts their wisdom into the emerging generation of young leaders' with the objectives being:

  • Inspiration
  • Connection
  • Student empowerment
  • Promoting positivity
  • Motivation
  • Education

Us student leaders loved National Young Leaders Day.

We played lots of games such as giant volleyball and True or False.

Graci Kim, a New Zealand writer, told us to never give up trying.

At National Young Leaders Day we got to buy cool pins, socks, hats, tote bags and all sorts of other souvenirs.

Our amazing Charlotte got picked to ask Brad Smeele (a wakeboarder) a question. "The spotlight was so bright" she says.

Our amazing Nova got chosen to give one of the speakers, DJ Forbes, a gift bag.
