Principal's Message
Kia ora e te whānau
Yay the sun is shining! I hope you can all get some time to enjoy the spring weather this weekend. We have two weeks to go of Term 3 and at this stage we remain at Alert Level 2.5. We are all used to this now and though it can seem chaotic at drop off and pick up times it is working well. One change we would like to start as of Monday applies to children waiting to come in the main entrance or turf gate in the mornings only. Many older children seem to be being dropped off unaccompanied and we don't like them being so close to the road. From 8.15 these children will be able to wait on the court area rather on the side of the road. Please note there should not be any children waiting before 8.15am!
Once on the court area, these children will wait until the 8.30am bell to move to class as usual. This will not apply to the sandpit gate which is being used by Year 1 and 2 children and will only be open at 8.30am.
Rūma Kowhai opens as a New Entrant classroom on Monday 14th September- our ninth and final class in the Year 1/0 team. The children will be taught Monday - Wednesday by Lani Maoate and Thursday/Friday by Emma Tamura. When the numbers get above 20 Tracy Sutherland, Associate Principal, will also be working with the children. The room is all set up and ready to go and we are looking forward to all our new children joining us.
We had a Zoom assembly last Friday as we couldn't hold a normal assembly. This seemed to work pretty well and we will be repeating this model again on Thursday 24th September for our end of term assembly. It was lovely to see these very deserving children receiving their awards as well as our poetry winners.
Many children are being picked up early from school each day. We understand that this is necessary some of the time. We would ask however that where possible appointments are made outside of school hours or prior to 2.30pm. From 2.30pm it gets extremely busy in the office with last minute phone calls and plans for children which have to be delivered in a short timeframe.
We would really appreciate your support with this.
Have a great weekend
