Supervision of children before and after school
We would like to respectfully remind you all about drop offs and pick ups from school each day. While some children arrive and wait on the Hall Court before the 8.30am bell each day, they are unsupervised during this time. Teachers and staff are preparing for the day and getting ready to welcome children in from 8.30am. You are welcome to wait with your child during this time as some parents do.
A reminder that in the afternoons school staff are only responsible for children until 3pm. From 3pm children need to either be picked up or attend the after school care programme. Recently, staff have noticed a number of unsupervised children waiting for parents on the playgrounds and other areas of the school. This can and has resulted in accidents happening with no adults in attendance. Your children are welcome to play on the playgrounds or around the school after hours as long as you are here to supervise them. Teachers are busy with meetings and preparation from 3pm and are not supervising children.
We understand of course that from time to time parents are held up and cannot make it on time. Our children are told to come to the office if this is the case or if they are not sure what the day's arrangements are and we can help them out from there. Please reinforce this message with your children. We want all our children to be safe at all times and the transition points are at times causing us concern.
Thank you all for your ongoing support.
