Kia ora e te whānau

School for 2020 is done and dusted!  What a year it has been!  I'm so grateful and proud of the Kaurilands staff for the outstanding job they have done navigating teaching through a pandemic!  We have all had a lot of new learning about what is possible when you can't physically be at school!

Yesterday we farewelled some of our staff.  Emma Tamura has been co-teaching Rūma Kowhai this term with Lani Maoate and we hope she will come back and do something similar next year!  Clare O'Gorman has gone on maternity leave for 2021 and we wish her all the best for the new arrival!  Steve Van Nes has taken a new position at Auckland Normal Intermediate beginning next year.  We have really enjoyed having Steve as a member of our staff over the last two and a half years and we wish him all the best for his new endeavours.  Jenna Powell has taught with us over the last seven years at almost every level across the school including being a team leader.  Jenna has been an outstanding team member and we owe her a huge debt of gratitude.  We have absolutely loved working with Jenna and will miss her very much.  Lucky Sumner School in Christchurch!

Thank you to our amazing Board who have offered so much support this year.  Thanks in particular to Nick Summerfield, our Chair, who has virtually been on a hotline for long periods of time this year!  Thanks to the amazing senior leadership team and particularly Erin Namajuska who kept the wheels turning and had to figure out the realities of a pandemic on our school earlier in the year and throughout.  The team have been phenomenal and need a very well deserved rest.

Thanks to our wonderful community.  Have a brilliant Christmas and holiday period.  We will see you all on Tuesday February 9th 2021.
