Meri Kirihimete from the Library

Laura the LibrarianDecember 19, 2024

We would like to wish everyone a safe and relaxing summer holiday. Thank you to all our whānau for their ongoing support of our Library. We have had a wonderful year with your tamariki and can't wait to see them again next year!

Summer Reading
We have had over 300 children sign up to borrow books from our Library over the summer holidays. Almost 3,000 books have been issued to our children and teachers to enjoy over the summer!

Visiting Author

We were very lucky to have the talented award winning New York Times best selling author Graci Kim visit us this week. Graci spoke to our Year 5s about her amazing books and how she became a writer. Graci's Fallen Clans series is a Korean mythology inspired fantasy series perfect for fans of Percy Jackson. Her new book, Dreamslinger, due out next year, is recommended for fans of Harry Potter and Keepers of the Lost Cities. All our Year 5 students received a signed bookmark.  https://www.gracikim.com/

Top tips

The app can be accessed on an iPad, iPhone, Galaxy and most other devices. Using it is as easy as 1-2-3:

  1. Download the ePlatform app from the Apple and Google Play app stores. Also available on pcs, laptops and eReaders.

  2. Look for your library and log in - you’ll only need to do this once.

  3. Search for, borrow and read or listen to any book you want!

  4. Use the Settings Wizard’ comfort reading options to suit your needs. (These settings were created especially for dyslexic and visually impaired readers but can enhance every reader’s experience.)

  5. Download books in Wi-Fi spaces or before you leave home.

Hells Pizza

Below are some of our awesome students who have recently completed their Hell Pizza wheels. A total of 119 Kaurilands tamariki have completed their Hell Pizza wheels this year! We are very proud of them all. Competed wheels must be used by 31st January 2025.

Auckland Libraries

If you are staying home over the summer holidays keep the children busy with a visit to any one of Auckland's 52 Libraries. Check out their awesome free activities: https://www.aucklandlibraries.govt.nz/

Wishing you safe holidays and happy reading!
