This term, our Year 6 inquiry topic has centred around the living world.
We started the term learning about biomes and ecosystems and we were very impressed with the prior knowledge students brought with them from their previous learning of these topics. Some classes focused more on the life processes that all living things have in common and some classes had a heavier focus on exploring the physical and behavioural adaptations that each animal species needs to survive. The biomes we learnt about were marine, desert, rainforest, tundra and the savanna. Our tamariki thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding in a hands on and creative way by creating dioramas.
Take a sneak peek at some of the awesome dioramas made by our Year 6 students below!
