Principal's Message

Jo Augustine —

Kia ora e te whānau

We are nearly at the end of a very strange term and are all looking forward to the Term 2 holidays.  Our children are tired and for the last two weeks, we have had at least 100 children away each day, time for a rest!

We are looking forward to a fresh start in Term 3 and the return of a lot of normal school activities such as Assemblies, Sports and Clubs.  In Term 3 we are also looking forward to a number of events where community can be involved and the first one of these is Matariki on the 31st July.  We will begin as always at 5.45am with our hikoi up the maunga followed by breakfast and celebrations at school.  We will also have a Matariki Assembly at 9.30am.  More information will follow at the beginning of next term.  At the end of Week 1 on Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th July, we will be holding conferences for all children and families.  School will close early on the Thursday at 1.00pm and supervision will be available for children until 3.00pm if required.  School will finish at 3.00pm as normal on the Friday.  This will allow us to fit in all appointments over two days.  Information will be coming out to you shortly about bookings.

Since the beginning of Level 1, we have had some near misses with our children and cars in the car park opposite school!  Senior Leaders are now being required to supervise this area before and after school to ensure the safety of our children.  The main problem is cars pulling across the driveways and stopping, which causes children to either have to walk in front of cars or walk on the road.  The car park is chaotic at times and concerns us greatly.   Please be aware of children moving around in this area and help us look after everyone.

Thank you all for your ongoing support.
