Year 5 Camp

Kia ora e te whānau
We have had an amazing run of weather this week and were even able to open our field (briefly!). We have enjoyed having the children out in the sunshine and involved in numerous activities. We were very grateful that we managed to reschedule our Year 5 camp at Camp Adair during fantastic blue sky days! Thanks to all our parent helpers who helped to make the camp so successful. Special thanks to our Year 5 team, Erin and particularly Alana for all the preparation that went into running a well-oiled machine!
As I have previously mentioned, Abby Skeen and Georgia Martin will both be leaving at the end of this term to travel overseas. We are so grateful to both teachers for the outstanding contributions they have made to our school over the years. We will miss them both very much. We will celebrate Abby and Georgia at our end of term assembly on Friday 30 June at 11.30am. Abby's replacement as Year 5 Team Leader and Room 4 classroom teacher will be Sarah Radcliffe (currently at Ponsonby Primary). Georgia's replacement as PE/Sports Co-ordinator is Leanne Gibbons (currently at Papatoetoe South School). Both new staff members are also currently team leaders so they will bring a wealth of experience with them.
We have a very busy couple of weeks coming up heading towards the end of the term. Our annual disco tonight will be attended by most of our children and the excitement levels are already high! We are hoping the weather will sort itself out by tonight to allow things to run as smoothly as possible!
Please ensure you are prompt to pick up your children at the end of the disco. The Junior (Years 1-3) disco ends at 6.30pm and the Senior (Years 4-6) ends at 8pm. Patience will be required!
We would love to see as many of you as possible at the Matariki celebration early on Thursday 29 June. If you haven't attended this before it is a fantastic opportunity to come together for the hikoi at 6am followed by breakfast together in the hall from 7am. We usually have around 500 people at this event so read on for further information below.
Over the holidays several projects will be happening on our school site. Rooms 10 and 11 are being refurbished, the Library weathertightness and interior refurb continues and a new path is being laid outside Rooms 20 / 21.
The refurb of Rooms 10 and 11 will then be replicated across Rooms 12 to 25 over the next year. We have had to park a container at the end of Room 16 to move classroom furniture into while the refurbs are being completed.
School will finish for Term 2 at 3pm on Friday 30 June and recommence on Monday 17 July at 8.55am.
See you at the disco!
