Kaurilands School Gala - Saturday 28th October!

Te Whānau ĀwhinaJune 29, 2023

We’re super excited to finally announce the return of our famous Kaurilands School Gala, taking place on Saturday 28 October 2023. We haven’t run a gala for a few years now, but felt that 2023 was the year to make its grand return. It really is a highlight of the school calendar and a great opportunity for our school to engage with our awesome community.

Our focus for this year's gala is to encourage reconnection within the school community and provide a great day out for our students past and present, as well as the wider community and neighbours. So let’s all get together and create a great day for everyone.

The School Gala is one of our main fundraising events. We haven’t been able to hold the gala over the last few years so this is our chance to get some new projects underway. We are aiming to raise funds for two specific projects. The first project is the area outside Rooms 20 and 21. This play area desperately needs redesigning to make it safer for our young tamariki. The second project is the senior playground (at the back of the school) where we would like to put some safety matting underneath the entire space.

You can find current gala info and updates on the school website and on the Te Whānau Āwhina facebook page.

Sponsorship

We can’t organise a School Gala without a little help from our friends. Fancy giving us a hand? The generous contributions of our local businesses plays an important part in making our 2023 School Gala a huge success.

We’re calling on all local businesses or friends of the school to help sponsor the day. We have a range of packages available if you, or a business you know, would be keen to help.

Every sponsor will be proudly part of our promotional material, on our social pages, in our school newsletter, website and gala communications. We’ll also have your branding on posters in and around the school including our brand new electronic sign on Atkinson Road.

Please get in touch if you are interested in sponsoring a gala stall, or making a contribution. Email: kaurilandstwa@gmail.com

Kaitiakitanga - Protecting and caring for the environment

Our School Gala Environmental Footprint

The School Gala will continue to have a strong environmental focus, following on from some fantastic initiatives that our previous events have put into practice. We aim to minimise our landfill contribution with waste sorting stations, encouraging gala goers to recycle and compost as much as possible.

Manaakitanga - Care and respect, respecting yourself, other and the community

Donating to Supporting Others

We have a strong focus on community and this year, we will not be discounting any unsold second hand goods during the gala but rather, we will donate unsold items to charities at the conclusion of the event. If you have any suggestions of a group that would welcome or benefit from unsold items (books, white elephant, sporting equipment, clothing, toys and games), please email us.

Whanaungatanga - Building and maintaining positive relationships

How can you help?

We are going to need all the help we can get! Keen to help?

It’s going to be compulsory for all classrooms to get involved and host a stall. Each class will be allocated a gala event such as jolly jars, baking stall, plant stalls and so much more. You can view your class allocation here: https://kaurilands.school.nz/our-community/school-gala If your class does not have a stall allocated yet, just check back shortly.

We will be calling out for donation items as well as talented parents who can help out on the day doing things like face painting, designers, manning a stall and so much more. We will be in touch again soon on how you can help!

Thank you for your ongoing support in making our School Gala a great community event.

Ngā mihi

Jo and Te Whānau Āwhina
