Greetings to the Kavanagh Community

Our new students have settled in beautifully and while the bulk of them are in Year Seven, there are a large number dispersed throughout all year levels. It is hard to imagine the College without these young people now, such is the seamless way they have joined us. Brilliant.

On Tuesday afternoon we had a chance for the parents of children in Years Seven to Nine, and those new to the College at other levels, to meet their child’s tutor teacher. The turnout was excellent and it has set a cracking tone for the year ahead. The major point is worth revisiting here: Your child’s tutor teacher is your primary point of contact for all matters, please contact them at the first sign of alarm bells. The tutor teachers are continuing to build strong relationships with their students and no one is better placed in the college to work with your child than them.

This evening the teaching staff are attending the Catholic Schools Commissioning Mass – celebrated by Bishop Michael. This Mass reinforces to us the responsibility we have, and privilege we enjoy, when teaching in a Catholic school. All Catholic schools will be represented.

Today the Year Nines have enjoyed the delights of Brighton Beach as Ms Bugarski and her merry bunch of Year Nine tutor teachers conducted this annual exercise in bonding and competition. A most successful day was had by all.

Next Thursday (Feb 14th) we have our NCEA Information Evening and we urge parents, particularly those of you new to the qualification scene to come along and ask questions relevant to your child’s year ahead.

Monday week (Feb 18th) is the College’s Athletics Sports Day. This is a significant event and we welcome parents to come and join us as you can throughout the day.
