Principal's message

Steve Read —

Kia Ora

This week has seen our Year 11 – 13 students complete their “mock” exams in preparation for the NZQA exams in November. The next two snapshot cards e-mailed out will have updated results on them. Please take the time to discuss the results with your son or daughter and more importantly plan what needs to be done to ensure that they will perform to their full potential in November.

Congratulations to Erika Fairweather who picked up a couple of NZ age group records at the Junior Pan Pacific Games in Fiji. Also a big shout out to Timothy O’Farrell and Elliot Blyth who spent some time with the Prime Minister this afternoon as the Kavanagh Class Act Students for 2018.

Next week is New Zealand Secondary Schools Sports Tournament Week and we have nearly 90 students competing. The teams competing are Girls Football in Dunedin, Boys Football in Nelson, Mixed Hockey in Oamaru, Boys Basketball in Ashburton, Girls Basketball in Westport and Netball in Dunedin.

Our enrolment process is underway for 2019 following our successful Open Day. Maria Menzies, our Enrolments Secretary, has begun arranging interviews for later this term. If you, or someone you know, would like to have their child at Kavanagh College in 2019, please download and complete the enrolment forms from our website https://www.kavanagh.school.nz/assets/Uploads/2018-Enrolment-form.pdf or call into reception to pick up a prospectus.

Students in Years 10 -12 have received information about courses on offer at Kavanagh in 2019 and they will be making their final subject choices online by Thursday 13 September. Finally a reminder about tonight’s Careers and Course Planning Evening held in the Auditorium at 7.30pm.

Enjoy some family time over the weekend and God Bless
