Mike Campbell —

Greetings

The College's 30th celebration of Kavanagh Day was a worthy one and widely regarded as one of the best in recent times. McAuley took overall honours with their lip-synch performance clinching their overall top spot for the day. Rice were a heroic second and only a smidgen behind. The House Leaders did a superb job in marshalling their troops and the day was notable for its good cheer and reverence - particularly at the College Mass celebrated by Bishop Michael. Very uplifting indeed.

Next week we have our senior timetable suspended to allow assessments across a range of subjects in Year 11, 12 and 13. These assessments are critical as both a practice for the External Examinations in November, but particularly as a backstop if illness or injury means students are unable to participate in the November exams. Students have their timetables and the conditions under which they are to be sat. It is worth noting that over half the College will still be involved in lessons 'as usual' so as the exam students expect some quiet, so do the younger students when the senior students are between exams.

Winter sport is drawing to a close with finals in various codes being played over the next week. As Tournament Week is approaching a number of teams are involved in fundraising - it's always nice to help out where possible so please keep an eye out.

The Y7/8s are soon to embark on a series of interschool competitions with the Sassenach's rugby tournament on Friday, an exchange with Carisbrook School next Friday then the much-anticipated Mt Aspiring visit to us in Week Ten - plenty of opportunities indeed.
