KS Kapa Haka Performance

Newsletter —

The annual St. Brigid’s Kapa Haka festival is still going ahead, although it is digital-only this year. On Wednesday of Week 3, the 28th of October, we will be filming our Kapa Haka performance to be included in the Northern Suburbs Kapa Haka video compilation.

We are delighted to be able to invite Kapa Haka parents along to watch our performance as we film, especially now that we are in Level 1 and are again able to have parents on site. We will be performing at 12:00pm in the school hall, and would love to have all Kapa Haka parents to attend.

The videoed performance will be the same quality as if we were performing in person, including costumes and moko, so we will need many parent helpers to assist with this big process. Please let us know if you would be able to help on the morning of October 28th to help organise costumes and put on moko, no prior experience required. This would be from 9:10am to 12:00pm. Please email hanan.chittock@khandallah.school.nz if you are able to help.

Dress Code for the performance:

-Girls will be provided with Kapa Haka dresses to wear for the performance. Underneath, girls should wear bike shorts (or other shorts) that won’t be seen under the dress (please, no leggings). Girls should also wear plain black, strappy or shoestring singlets under the costume (if at all); please, no coloured or patterned tops underneath the dresses. They should also bring a hairbrush with them to school on the day to prepare their hair.

-Boys will wear plain black shorts (no pants please), and the red Khandallah sports t-shirt. Many of you will already have one of these, but please email hanan.chittock@khandallah.school.nz if you will need to borrow one. If a shirt is borrowed, it will need to be laundered and returned promptly, as there are many upcoming sporting events. They can also be purchased from the office should you wish.
