Pink Shirt Day - Friday 16 May
On Friday 16 May, our tamariki are encouraged to WEAR SOMETHING PINK to take a stand against bullying.
Sadly, New Zealand has one of the highest rates of bullying in the OECD. We want ro raise awareness of this issue and help our tamariki to understand that bullying is not acceptable behaviour. We will be highlighting this message at our School Assembly on Friday 16th.
In the days leading up to Pink Shirt Day, and on the day itself, our tamariki will be participating in activities to equip them with the skills to respond to bullying if it happens, and better still, help them to prevent it from happening in the first place.

What is bullying?
It can be confusing to understand what bullying is, and what it is not. Bullying is not a one-off incident such as an argument, conflict, or unkind act. By definition, bullying behaviour has all of these components:
It is deliberate and targeted
It is repeated
There is an imbalance of power e.g. size, strength, age, numbers, and can cause harm
