Kia ora e te whānau. We are getting ready for our Book Fair next week. “Hats off to Reading”, get creative and design a Wacky Hat to wear. There will be a different theme each day (see our Hats off to Reading article).

There are lots of fabulous books to purchase. If you wish to donate to our School Library, we will have a “wishlist” operating where you can purchase a book. A donation sticker will be put in the front of the book with your child/family name.

The Northern Zone Swimming Sports was held last Friday at Kilbirnie Pool. I loved seeing them all participate in this big event and the team did really well. A big thank you to all the parents who turned up to support the Khandallah team and our team helpers who made sure each age group was well looked after. A team of 9 swimmers have made it through to the Wellington event in September.

Kowhai Hub had a trip this week to Kilbirnie Ahau Tangi Sports Centre where they had lots of fun playing lots of games and interacting with different sports equipment. Thank you to all the parents who supported them on the buses.

A Khandallah School group participated in the Indian Independence Day celebrations with Anu at the High Commission of India on Tuesday 15 August. They really enjoyed the opportunity to sing at this special event.

Reminder we have our Teacher Only Professional Development day on Friday September 1st. Teachers will be working on the new Curriculum Refresh documents and resources. There will be no children at school. YMCA will be operating on this day if you require supervision for your children.

Keep warm this weekend everyone, it certainly has been another cold winter week.
