Kia ora whanau. What an amazing selection of writing I have been reading lately, these clever children are really writing fabulous stories.

Today we had all our new students that will be starting at the beginning of the year visiting. Lots of excited children were building rockets, role playing in the cafe, painting and making books, to list just a few exciting things they were engaging in with their new buddies. Also at this time we started the transition process with Year 1’s to Matai Hub and Year 3’s to Kaka Hub there certainly was a happy buzz.

It was lovely to meet all this year's new parents and welcome them all formally at our Powhiri this week. We were hoping to have the whole school involved and outside on the courts.Unfortunately the weather did not look after us this week and we had to scale back students attending to all fit into the school hall. A big thank you to Matua Alwyn for his work coordinating this, our Kapa Haka group leading our waiata and the parents from Home and School, who baked the yummy kai.

2021 Staffing news:

We will sadly be farewelling Malcolm at the end of the year. Malcolm has been teaching at Khandallah for over 7 years, he has been a valued teacher in Matai and Kauri hubs, and has been an active leader of the EnviroSchools Programme, Cricket teams, Pedal Ready bike initiative and Epro8 Technology challenges. We wish him all the best for his new teaching position at Hampton Hill School who are very lucky to have Malcolm teaching in their Year 5 & 6 team.

I would like to welcome Zach Mcleod and Meagan Warner who have been working at Khandallah School this year as teacher trainees and Katie McAlister from Arakura School. Congratulations to them on joining the Khandallah star team next year.
