Oestreicher Junior Leadership Programme

Dave Ross —

This Leadership Programme is named after Dr Paul Oestreicher, a famous King’s Old Boy who attended King’s High School from 1939 – 1943.

Throughout the year, our Year 9 and 10 students earn points for displaying outstanding leadership qualities in a variety of different contexts. These points are tracked and displayed in the Library Foyer at the end of each Term, allowing students to see their progress.

At the conclusion of the academic year, top achieving students will be awarded a Gold, Silver or Bronze Award depending on their points total.

Points are awarded for:

  • Merit referrals from staff for leadership
  • Merit referrals for outstanding class work
  • Outstanding performance in Weekly Notes (end of each Term)
  • Outstanding attendance (90% plus)
  • Leadership nominations from Summer/Winter sports
  • Leadership nominations from School Academies
  • Displaying outstanding leadership as part of a Liaison Class/House Group/Year Group
  • Recognition of outstanding leadership by Year Level Dean.

The top Year 9 student and top Year 10 students are recognised with an Oestreicher Leadership Award at our End of Year Prize Giving.
