Year 13 Business Studies

Joel Hodgkinson —

A group of Year 13 Business Studies students have created a business called BeeLeaf. It is a social enterprise focused on addressing the state of Mental Health in New Zealand and our local community.

Their mission is to run a training seminar for up to 2000 members of the local community giving them the tools to help their friends and family in need, teach them what to say and, equally as important, what not to say. They hope that this will make a small difference in our support systems to make a big difference in the lives of those we love most.

Earlier in the year they received $500.00 in Seed Funding from the University of Otago Business School and won $50.00 in prize money from the Young Enterprise Scheme, which they are competing in along with the other Year 13 teams.

In order to raise further funds for the event, they are selling their unique range of socks with funky, positive designs on them which they hope will put a smile on the dial of those who haven’t in a while.

Head to their website (link below) if you would like to find out more or purchase some socks to support their cause.
