Successful but wet day for the 3rd Cross Country Race

Grant Koedyk —

Last Thursday we headed out in fine weather for the Otago Cross Country Secondary School Championships.

It stayed fine for a little while then it bucketed down and a cold wind came up. This meant mud and slippery conditions for the races.

Our teams did very well, coming 2nd in the Under14, 2nd and 3rd in the Under 16 and winning the Under 19 grade. This was good preparation for the Nationals being held in Timaru next weekend.

Individually in the Under 14 grade we had Brayden Scott 4th and Johan Lokman 13th . In the Under 15 grade, Harry Mason 8th and Harry McAslan 15th . In the Under 16 Grade Spencer Gable 2nd , Sammy Johnson 7th , Hugh Askerud 8th , Oliver Tily 9th and Zeke Buschl 12th. Finally in the Senior grade we had George Bates 4th , Ezekiel Stewart 5th and Flynn Haig 12th . Overall it was an enjoyable day out even if we got a little wet.
