Invite to OSSSA Finals

Gareth Hore —

On behalf of King’s High School Football, we would like to invite you all to Forsyth Barr Stadium on Wednesday next week (28th August) in support of our three King’s teams that have qualified for the OSSSA Finals.

2019 has been a stellar season for King’s Football with the 2nd XI earning the right to play in the final against the unbeaten 1st XI team in the OSSSA Senior Prem Final kicking off at 5.45pm.

The King’s Junior XI will take on Otago Boys' 10 Blue at 4.15pm in the Junior Prem Final.

A huge thank you to the hard work of Mr McPhail in his Football Performance Programme that has had the core of these three teams involved in separate Junior and Senior sessions throughout the whole year. Players involved have had sessions on Nutrition, Fitness, Sports Science as well as a number of guest speakers including only a few weeks ago, Des Buckingham, the All Whites Assistant Coach. Combine this with specific pitch based sessions within the school timetable, and the programme has clearly benefited these young men who have made it to these finals.

In addition, the coaching provided by Mr Aaron Corkhill with the Juniors and Mr Rory Findlay and Mr Bradley Scott with the 2nd XI must also be acknowledged.

The three teams playing in the finals on Wednesday will also play in tournaments the following week with the Junior 1st XI at the National Junior Tournament in Tauranga, the 2nd XI at the Linwood Tournament in Dunedin and the 1st XI at the National Premier Tournament in Napier.

Thank you to the parents and caregivers for your support during the season.
