Volleyball Otago Championships

Dave Conrad —

Otago Champions for three years in a row is a tremendous result.

What a fantastic weekend for King’s Volleyball.

Our Senior Lions' didn’t drop a set all weekend and, in the final, dominated a very strong OBHS team winning three nil delivering the most complete performance Andy Campbell has seen in his five years with this group of quality men.

With COVID robbing us of Interschools and Nationals, I’m pleased we got the chance to show our family and friends how good we really are. To be Otago Champions for three years in a row is a tremendous result, and one that I’m very proud of, thanks to Andy and Garry for all the work they put in, and the parents for all their support.

We also had the Senior Vikings playing at the weekend, Covid causing a bit of disruption to the side. Their ranks were bolstered by two of our Year 10 players Finn and Jeremiah, who along with the rest of the team had some great wins and finished a creditable 4th place.

Unfortunately, their cross over Semi-Final saw them come up against the Senior Lions' and then lost a tough 3rd/4th playoff game against JMGC.

The talent coming through in that young team is amazing, and it’s now their job to defend our title next year, big thanks to Chase, this guy bleeds King’s Volleyball and is a huge part of our success.

Congratulations to Spencer, Michael, Lachie and Tom for making the Tournament Team 🏆.

Finally, to all our volleyballers, congratulations on your efforts in a very trying season both playing and as duty teams, your efforts were greatly appreciated by me and the wider volleyball community.

Last but certainly not least a massive thanks to Mr Tudreu, Mr Horsley, Mr McMillian, Mr Iti, Mr Dryden & Mr Turner for all your efforts in helping get the Volleyball season through.
