Road Race season begins!

Ollie Young —

It was a windy, cold day down at the Caledonian Grounds for the Logan Park Road Race. The squad (21 runners) arrived in high hopes before Harry Mason, who forgot to bring his gear to race, took them for their warm up and a sensible stretch.

The combined girls’ race was off first, blazing the trail that the junior and senior boys would take later on in the day. Opening on a lap of the running track, the juniors set off to complete the grueling road circuit. Despite the wind and cold, everyone finished strongly.

Hugh Jack just missing out on 3rd after a sprint finish, with Ziad Aljomaa coming in for 5th and Zak Chisholm returning in a solid 7th. We had six of the top ten finishers.

The senior boys started with high hopes and some light rain. Undeterred, Ezekiel Stewart started at the back of the pack and finished a very strong 3rd. Ollie Young, Sammy Johnson, Johan Lokman and Nathan Hill tried hard though they found the conditions difficult.

We are looking forward to the King’s Relays next Thursday. Thanks to Mr Koedyk and Mrs Chapman for their encouragement during the race.
