King's former student awarded Six60 Scholarship
Congratulations Casey Jowsey!
The University of Otago announced the winners of the 2025 Six60 Scholarship this week.
Casey was one of four University of Otago students who will be living at 660 Castle St next year.
The other winners are Emilie Murphy, Ben McMorran and Jamie Hall. The Six60 Scholarship gives these students a chance to kick-start their music careers.
Established in 2021 by New Zealand band Six60 and the university, the Scholarship includes a $10,000 rebate on rent, mentoring for some of the band members and access to the university’s recording studios.
Co-Heads of Performing Arts Kaine Harington and Jo Dryden said this was awesome news for Casey.
"With Tomuri Spicer and now Casey’s success receiving back-to-back Six60 Scholarship Awards (2023 and 2024), I am proud that students are leaving here with a passion for music and that they feel empowered to continue striving in their music careers. Both Casey and Tomuri were passionate musicians during their time at King’s, and both really are committed to making music a significant part of their life. I’m thrilled to see Casey being given this incredible opportunity .”
