Year 10 Art Class Trip to the Dunedin Public Art Gallery

Lucia Rozenberg —

On Tuesday this week our two Year 10 Art classes visited the Dunedin Public Art Gallery (DPAG).

The students were introduced to a range of New Zealand and European Art, as well as Japanese Prints. They were inspired by the recent exhibition of contemporary Chinese Art in photography, mixed media and installation.

The educator at the DPAG, John Neumegen, introduced the students to the style of Pop Art. They were given the opportunity to discuss the techniques of Pop Art and the ideas and effects associated with this style.  After an informative walk through the gallery, the students had the opportunity to apply what they had learned to their own work and completed some impressive artworks in the Pop Art style.
