The New Zealand Royal Navy stopped in to Otago Harbour for a visit on Tuesday. The junior officers aboard were undertaking the at-sea component of their basic officer of the watch course. Opportunities were made available for potential recruits to come aboard for a tour of the ship. 

Year 13, Deakin Eckhoff, Year 12, Archie Hall and Year 11 students, Blake Broome, Nick Reid, Ryan Pariachi and Awen Wallace went on the tour of the HMNZS Tāupo.

The ship is one of two Lake-class Inshore patrol vessels that do maritime surveillance and patrol missions around New Zealand.
