King's Sport for week 9.

Dave Conrad —

There is a lot happening in the sport's department next week. Please see below for a summary of what is on where. If you know any Old Boys who happen to be in Invercargill, Christchurch or Palmerston North, tell them to pop along for a look and to make themselves known to the teams competing.

This weekend, the King's High School Athletics Squad travel to Invercargill for the Otago/Southland Championships and we wish the thirty five boys competing all the best. The following weekend will see the qualifiers from this event compete at the SISS Championships which this year are being held at the Caledonian Ground in Dunedin.

The Senior A Touch Team is also away this weekend to Christchurch to compete at the SISS Touch Qualifying Tournament. We wish Mr Koni, Mrs Jopson and the team all the very best in their efforts to qualify for the NZSS Finals to be held later in the year.

On Sunday, for only the second time in King's Cricket history, the King's Junior Cricket Team is away to Palmerston North to represent the Otago region at the prestigious NZCT Junior Finals. This tournament will see the team compete against five other regional qualifiers in a round robin format. The quality of the opposition will sorely test this young team, but the boys have been working hard under Mr Scott and Mr Nidamanuru's guidance and I am sure the team will be striving hard to gain that first elusive win for King’s at this tournament.
