Tomuri Spicer (Year 13) has been awarded 2nd place for his song "Aotearoa" in the 2020 Hook, Line and Singalong Competition run by the NZ Music Commission.

The aim of the competition is to encourage young songwriters to compose a song for the NZ Music Month celebrations, stipulating that the song should be easy for students to learn on the guitar or ukulele and should have a proud New Zealand flair.

Tomuri's song Aotearoa takes the listener on a tiki tour from the bottom of New Zealand to the top and celebrates many facets of New Zealand culture along the way.
