Library News

Debbie Vercoe —

The Library continues to be a popular place for our young men.

Welcome to Term 4. The Library continues to be a popular place during the busy school day. Students are actively encouraged to read and engage with the books and it is pleasing to see a significant number of students doing that alongside those who like to play chess, computer games and socialise with friends.

The Year 13 Study classes are quietly focused on completing assignments and preparing for the external exams. I wish them well in their efforts.

Junior English classes are enjoying their regular visits to return, renew, issue and discuss books. Most students are engaging with this and it is pleasing to see students making recommendations of books that they have enjoyed reading. Several students have recently received rewards for the excellent progress that they are making with their personal reading endeavours.

This week, 9Gi, 9Wm and 9Ko have enjoyed the opportunity to read a selection of the new Non-Fiction titles in the Library and to share some fascinating facts and interesting information with each other.

Today I received news that the School Council have voted to donate $1,000.00 to the Library for the purchase of new books. This generous support and contribution to the Library budget is greatly appreciated.  It will allow me to purchase some of the “New Release” titles that have been requested by students. Thank you, on behalf of us all.

The Librarians are doing a great job helping to run the Library smoothly and the Book Gang have started the term with first access to some exciting new titles and a focus on “an oldie but a goodie”…..to promote books and authors who have been in the library for some time but are well worth reading.

Enjoy the long weekend and hopefully, you will find time to read something amazing.

I look forward to seeing you in the Library, soon.
