John Barr —

Uili Kolo’ofa’i 1996 – 2001

Uili was a member of the King's High School 1st XV from 2000 to 2001. He was an Otago Secondary Schools Rugby Representative and a member of the South Island Secondary Schools team. He was also a member of the school’s 1st Volleyball Team. Uili gained a School Blue in Rugby and Volleyball

New Zealand born Uili started out playing for the Otago Senior Representative team on a five-year stint from 2004 to 2008. He was a towering lock who produced solid performances for Otago in the ITM Cup.

His success resulted in a move abroad:

  • 2009: with the Coca-Cola club, in Fukuoka, Japan
  • 2010: with the Italian club, Crociati Parma
  • 2011: with the Italian club, Cavalieri Prato
  • 2012: with the French club, Colomiers

Uili produced staggering performances, which resulted in: 

  • 2013: Test selection for Tonga
  • 2014: playing in the English club, Newcastle Falcons
  • 2014: playing in the Tongan Rugby team tour of Romania
  • 2015: selection for Tonga to play in the Rugby World Cup in England and Wales.

In the year from 2015 to 2016 he played 60 games for the Jersey Reds in the second tier of the English Rugby Union League system.

Uili won eight caps for Tonga and was a member of their squad at the 2015 World Cup.
