Sports Update

Rod Bannister —

The Week in Sport

As the sports term begins to heat up so does sport at school!

Registrations for our numerous sporting options have been flat out with Mr Conrad literally chasing his tail and Mr Mitchell-Collie keeping us extremely well informed across our social platforms.

It has been fantastic to see many of our young men (and parents) come up to the sports office including sporting enthusiasts across a wide range of codes!

This week has seen some of our young men attend BMX National camps, Tennis Otago Secondary School champs, as well as the Otago Secondary School Triathlon champs, and all of the school summer codes are underway with Handball kicking off next week.

I'd like to sincerely thank all of the teachers, coaches, parents/caregivers, and those involved/helping with our sports, without you we would literally be unable to provide our young men with these opportunities so a big thank you from the Sports Department.

I will endeavour to get across as many of our codes as possible, however, please make sure you keep me and the sports office updated with any upcoming events or competitions.

If you have any questions or would like to have a discussion about sport at school do not hesitate to reach out to me.

Did you know:

William McFarlane, Noah Brummitt, Alfie Weatherston-Harvey, and Owen Jack are all competitive top level squad swimmers training out of the Moana pool complex. In April some of them will compete in the NZ Age Group champs in Hawkes Bay where they're hoping to win a medal as well as at the NZ Short Course champs in Auckland in August.

It will be great to see some of these young men in action at the NZ Secondary School champs in Blenheim later in the year!

Nga mihi
