Otago Secondary Schools Triathlon – Challenge Wanaka

Timothy Kelleher —

King’s High School was represented by Dan Kelleher and George Fa’asega (Year 10) in the U16 event which was made up of a 300m swim, 10km bike and a 3.5km run.

The Wanaka Challenge took place last Thursday at the beautiful Glendhu Bay. The conditions were perfect for spectators, but the hot day made the hilly course an even greater challenge for the athletes.

Both boys were part of the early pace-setters from the swim and they maintained a high pace through out the bike and the run, with Dan finishing second overall and George taking home fifth place.

The series rolls on to the South Island Secondary Schools Triathlon event in Oamaru on the 5th March.
