In Week 11 the final Athletics event was held on Monday at lunchtime; the great 3000m. The boys ran seven and a half laps around Tonga Park on a cold cold day as supporters cheered for runners from their Houses.

Two races were held with the U14’s and U15’s in one and the U16 and U19’s in the second race. I say U16 as only one boy, Johan Lokman, was brave enough to show up.

Zak Chisholm of Stuart House won the U14 event with a time of 12:22, a formidable race. He said of the race “it was horrible so I’m going to do it again next year.” What great King’s spirit. Hugh Jack of Tudor House won the U15 event with a time of 10:57. He was unsure of his win during the race, afterwards saying “Zihad (runner up) ran really well and I didn’t think I was going to beat him.”

Next it was on to the U16 and U19’s. Johan Lokman of Windsor House won the U16 race, against himself, with a time of 12:21. Lastly, Ollie Young of Stuart House won the U19 event with a time of 10:27. He was quoted complaining about “the Banana” in front of him always being in the way. After dedicated research I have found he was referring to Hugh of Hanover House and his yellow shirt. However I heard a different story from a completely unrelated anonymous source who said “I don’t want to take anything away from Ollie’s achievement, but I did tire Spencer (Runner up) out quite a bit.” All I know is great job Ollie, Johan, Hugh and Zak for the amazing racing.
