Fire at Grove

Rob Taylor —

Kia Ora All,

As many of you will be aware one of our long serving teachers and King’s High School Old Boy, Garry Turner and his wife Nancy, lost their Family Home of 35 years and most of their belongs in a house fire last Sunday the 27th of November. Unfortunately, they have lost almost everything. All four of Garry and Nancy’s children grew up in the house and they have also lost precious items. Their insurance company have been fantastic to date, and they are both very grateful for the support given.

They have been swamped with extremely kind offers of condolences and help. Garry and Nancy wish to pass on to the King’s family their sincerest gratitude for all the care and concern they have received and are receiving.

Nancy is a Teacher-Aide at Musselburgh Primary School (and one of our greatest recruiters). The Musselburgh Primary School family have started a “Give a Little” page (see link title below) to help with the traumatic transition from their home of 35 years into rental accommodation. They are currently staying in a local motel before moving into rental accommodation on the 20th of December. Until this date they are unsure of what they will need for their new home.

They intend to rebuild on the site and remain loyal members of the South Dunedin community for many years to come.
